What is a water garden?

What happens to my water feature in the winter?
Although some of our clients prefer to leave their features running all winter to see the beautiful ice formations. Depending on the type of water feature you have, it may need to be winterized to protect it from damage caused by freezing temperatures. Our team can help you winterize your water feature by draining the pipes, protecting or removing the pumps, and using various methods to prevent ice from forming.

How can I protect my fish from predators?
There are several ways to protect your fish from predators, depending on the type of predators in your area. One effective method is to install netting over the pond to prevent birds and other animals from accessing the fish. You can also install motion-activated sprinklers or lights to deter predators from approaching the pond.
Another option (the one we prefer) is to create hiding places for the fish, such as underwater plants, rocks or caves where they can take refuge if a predator approaches.

With proper maintenance and care, your new pond should not become a breeding ground for mosquitos. We can help you design your water garden to minimize stagnant water, which is a common breeding ground for mosquitos.
Additionally, introducing mosquito-eating fish, such as gambusia or mosquito fish, can also help control any mosquito populations that may arise.
